The British Council Library ,Bhopal is shutting down.
Did you read that? How did it sound to your ears? Good or Bad? I guess, a shock more anger and a wish that OUR BCL should not shut down . B'coz , it is the only place is BHOPAL that provides us so much space to develop, to meet people of different interest ,proffession and above all we all humans grown there! Then , how can a sudden decision be taken ,to shut it down?
We as a member of BCL ,make an appeal to all those who are associated with BCL ,to come forward and join hands together to stop this injustice with us .
You remember BCL slogan , " Create your success" .Just think , our voice together can make a difference not only to our generation but for many generations,to come. PLease , senieor citizens, member of Readers Club , Students , Housewives, Kids , Executives you all our are a team of BCL .Do COme forward to save BCL!

Mr Rod is it not possible to undertake new initiatives with existing library. The good will created over the years will be washed off. Can't you tell the authorities that this is unnecessary step for the new activity you proposed, you can always undertake the desired activity with 5000 members behind you. Please please ......infinite times please review and reopen library .... Ravi Limaye
If the delegates of the British Council don't accede to our humble and cordial appeals let's chalk out some radical strategy for saving it e.g. appealing to the state & national cultural Ministry through a movement or even by assembling all the members of British Library by making a Society, it may seem quixotic to you, but I'm sure that our amalgamated passion, interest, desire & intention to save it can definitely make it successful.
Let's face it as another battle of Lagaan.
it is really unfortunate to hear that british govt's department of cultural relations has decided to wind up 4 decades old british council library from bhopal. the library is very popular among students, executives, institutions etc. bhopalis have poor reading habits due to impact of television, and british library is (was) a very welcoming thing. its popularity, importance and relevance can be measured by the fact that city has very few public libraries and the membership of british library is multiple times more than combined membership of all other public libraries. closure of this library would be a serious blow to current as well as future generations of bhopal. infact instead of closing down bcl, more such libraries are required in our city. state govt. must intervene on behalf and welfare of the citizenry.

Sources tell that rod priyde did not take this decision all by himself it was a damn combined effort of our CM,Head of ICCR(Indian council for cultural relations) and many others,they say that they will invest the funds for the improvement of other educational services what the hell u think that closing a library will DO."IMPROVE THE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES"

Definately not. British library is indeed a pride of bhopal and why the government of madhya pradesh is silent over the issue is not understandable. They need to tell the book lover community which is 5000 strong about this. They should also put in efforts to stop this closure.
